1994 – 1998: CHU TEH-CHUN’S TRIP TO CHINA AND FIRST SOLO EXHIBITION IN HIS NATIVE COUNTRY

September 2023

In 1994, CHU Teh-Chun travelled to China with his family and friends: the sculptor and Academician Albert Féraud and his wife. After paying his respects at his parents’ grave, CHU was received in Beijing by the Artists’ Association.

Afterwards, he continued his journey to discover new landscapes, in particular Dunhuang, where CHU was very impressed by the Mogao caves and the Li River, offering a superb panorama.

In 1997, the Association Française d’Action Artistique (AFAA) organised a travelling exhibition of his work. It visited Beijing, Hong Kong, Kaohsiung (Taiwan) and finally Taipei in 1998. The Beijing exhibition was the first in the People’s Republic of China for over 50 years.
